Whatcom Falls Park
Walk contributed by: Betsy Hicks and son Joey
Walk/trail: Whatcom Falls Park, Bellingham, Washington
Location: Whatcom Falls Park - Managed by the city of Bellingham, Washington, Several entrances and parking locations, No fee for parking
Walk distance: Miles of trails both flat and hilly with numerous waterfalls
Highlights: My favorite is biking or hiking on Railroad Trail (which is not fully in the park, but sections of it are) - Begin by parking at Bloedel Donovan Park (no permit needed to park). There is a lovely beach there to enjoy before or after your hike. Take southern path from the parking lot and cross over Electric Ave to enter the park. At fork, go to the right which leads you over the bridge. The Railroad Trail is 3 miles and ends at a freeway overpass.
The trail is easy to follow and for those who like the rush of cars under bridges, it has two overpasses.
