Acadia National Park, Mt. Desert, Maine, USA

Walk/trail: Acadia National Park, Mt Desert and Schoodic Peninsula
Location: We have found multiple Easy Walks within the boundaries of this National Park. Both on the island and the mainland, (Schoodic Peninsula) are packed stone dust carriage roads that are appropriate for walking and biking off road. 48 miles of carriage roads offer so many choices, with helpful signage. Make sure to get a map of the carriage roads before setting out. Expect ocean views, woodland trails and amazing stone bridges along the way.
Walk distance: Each carriage road has distance marked to next trail junction. For shorter walks, plan on an out and back. For loop trails, you may need to travel up to 8 miles (or more)
Highlights: We built our adaptive tandem bicycle especially (but not only) so we could enjoy the multitude of carriage roads at Acadia. The paths are well maintained, with amazing views, and plenty of room to accommodate visitors. Some trails are more crowded than others, so it's a good idea to ask at the ranger station about less crowded trails. The trails at Schoodic peninsula are very underutilized. The one-way road along the shoreline of the peninsula offers stunning views.
