Marshall Gold Discovery State Park
Walk contributed by: Wendy Jovero
Walk/trail: Marshall Gold Discovery State Park
Location: Marshall Gold Discovery State Park, Coloma, California (8 miles from Placerville, CA)
Walk distance: Roughly a mile from one end of the park to the other.
Highlights: Start your walk by checking out the working blacksmith and historic buildings, including a reproduction of Sutter's Mill, and then take a short detour down to the American River. Wave to the kayakers floating by and dip your feet in the clear, mountain waters, making sure to keep an eye out for gold. Hike over the pebbled shores and listen to the calming sound of the rushing water.
